Hearts Block #3 Splendid Sampler

It is funny, well, funny as in strange not funny as in ha ha, how people will complain about the quilting/patterns when it is free.  Pat Sloan and all those designers worked hard on their blocks.  Why do people have to be so negative about it.  In Pat Sloan',s post a few days ago on Splendid Sampler, she wrote about people being negative and asking questions which were already answered in the directions.  Silly people! Let's be grateful to the work and designs of those who are putting these patterns out. If you don't like a block, don,t make it!  Nuff said!

When I first saw the block, truth be told, I was not excited about it.  That didn't mean I didn't appreciate the work that went behind it, nor would I ever say anything about it.  But when I put my colors in, I fell in love!  No pun intended hearts/love....

So work your colors maybe you will find it.  If not, make into a mug rug and gift it!  Ha!

You know I have taken on four month by month projects. Yikes.  Next week though, I am getting some quilting done.

Hearts A Flutter Block One

I am doing the Splendid Sampler.  Yes, why do I need another quilt project?  Just cause!  Cause I can.

This is what it looked like before I appliqued it.   I decided to use Joan Fords way of appliqueing to give another approach a try. I liked it but I am totally sold on my just learned way that I am currently using.

This is the finished block using Joan Fords technique.

Block of the Month, Christmas Quilt

Sawtooth Star
Our Guild is having a Block of the Month Quilt Along.  The blocks have been chose from the book, Around The Block by Judy Hopkins.  If you would like to join in, by all means, buy the book and jump in.

The first block was the Ohio Star.  I decided to do mine in Christmas fabric.  I have quite a bit of Christmas scraps.  I use to buy scrap bags from a local quilt shop, Ivy Thimble.  Sometimes there would be a few Christmas fabric scraps.  So I acquired quite a few after a while.

Ohio Star

The second block was the Sawtooth Star.  The third is the Simplex Star.  The BOM started in December- not too late to catch up.  Next one I will post in March.

Almost A Boxy Bag

I saw this bag on a Youtube video Brumpton) and I fell in love with it.  I went to her website and could not find the pattern.  Well, I found it but couldn't find where to either download it or buy it.  You can watch the video here.  If you find a way to get the pattern, I would like to know.

I kind of made it up as I went along.  Its not always easy to understand, at least not for me.  I need to make it again now that I learned a few things.  She does a very excellent job with her bag.
