Rapunzel Costume and Thrift Store Makeover

My daughter wants to be Rapunzel for Halloween.  I want her to be Rapunzel for Halloween.  My older daughter was not into Princesses and I am not really that into it but its fun to have a change of venue.  Also very fun to make Princess type dresses.  At least for me.

I picked up this dance dress at a local Thrift store.  I also found a purple cape there!  Bonus!  The dress needs work.  It needed sleeves and needed to be dressed up a little.  The modifications I made to the dress are minor but I really am pleased with the end result.

Now, the next fun part will be the hair.
After looking at these pics, I think I need to make a sleeve for the other side.

Little Lavender Fabric Ravioli's

I  got the idea from Little Quilts and Gifts from Jelly Roll Scraps by Carolyn Forster.

They're fabric ravioli's.  I needed to bring a little gift to our Halloween themed retreat.  These were perfect for the occasion.  Although I dont know how Fall like lavender is.  But it smells great in a sachet anytime of year.

I attached some tags to be a little more festive.
Real simple.  I just sewed straight lines, boxing a 2 1/2 strip in.  Then cut my units.  Sewed up the edges that were cut.  Stuffed them with two teaspoons of lavender flowers and sewed them shut.

Pumpkin Rising

If only there were 48 hours in a day I could get so much done.  But there is 24.  I will just have to deal.

Its Finish It Friday at Crazy Mom Quilts.  Can I tell you I have been trying to link up to it for, like, three weeks.  But every time, I forget or I am too late or I think of it too early.  This Friday. This is my day.  I am posting this to join the crowd of people that "get er done".  Because I am all about getting stuff done.  Its been my campaign for two years.  And I have done it.  Not as many as I would like, mind you, but I am plugging along.

This project here was started two years ago when I had went to the last Brockport Quilt Show.  I found the panel and the beautiful fabric at Country Treasures In Brockport.

I pulled it out of its UFO Box and decided to finish it up.  I had become discouraged about it because the squares didn't line up with the panel and I had a hard time squaring up the panel.  I was frustrated, so it got set aside.  Since then, I have learned that panels can be hard to square up.  At least that is what some people I know say.

So, I let the perfection go and focused on getting it done and practicing my free motion quilting.  I have been free motion quilting for a couple years but every piece teaches you something new.  At least that is my experience.

I am pretty happy with this area.

And this area.

Brockport Quilt Show

Brockport Quilt Show was this past weekend.  My Mom, my girls and I went!  Lovely! My kids ate cookies while my Mom and I looked at quilts.  Thank you Kathy and Jerilyn!

On the ride home, we admired the Canal, with the autumn leaves.

Embroidered Home

I have my next hexie embroidered for the Jenny of Elefantz project.  Its not yet a hexie here, but it is now.  I love this project, its quick and you can see results so quickly.

Go to Jenny of Elefantz for the pattern or go to her Craftsy store.
