One summer, like several years ago, I found this cute sunflower dress for my daughter. She was about 6 at the time. SO lets do the math, she's 12 now - 6 years ago. Anyway, I figured she could wear it and then when she was too big for it, I would change it into an apron.
Its been in my stuff to sew box for that long.
Until now. I have been going through stuff because I moved my sewing area to the basement and combined the two rooms. As you can imagine it has been a bit of an adjustment. I am going through stuff and purging as I go.
I just got rid of a ton of polyester fabric that I will never use. So happy it will be put to good use by various charities. Yeah! I had already cut it at this point. But I wanted you to see generally what the dress looked like before.
I left the finished edges and cut right above the waist. Then I made a band with batting in it. I sewed one side to the front and one side to the back. This encased those edges in.
| It doesnt look even here but it is. you can see that when it is on my daughter above/ |
I then cut away from the back of the dress to make the straps that I added to the waist band so it could be tied.
