Oriental Table Runner

I made a table runner out of some rectangles I picked up at a stash sale.  There were six made.  In the bag was some Dupioni silk and a few cotton rectangles.  One mans junk is another mans treasure.  I added some of my own fabrics to get the length I wanted.

I was looking through my stash for some Oriental type prints and found the pink one.  It was a perfect size for the table runner in width but was just short about five inches.  I added some stripes and now I have a reversible table runner. I am pretty pleased with how it came out.

For the quilting I did a butterfly pattern with swirls in between each butterfly.  Sadly, you really cant see the design since the print is busy but it was good practice.
I am linking up to Sew Fresh Quilts.  There is a big giveaway going on over there.  Go check it out and join in!

Finish A Long - First Quarter

I recently have had quite a few finishes.  But I have so many more on the waiting list to be finished.  I cant help but start a new project sometimes, though.  Like, just recently, this runner for my China cabinet.  I have been wanting to put something there for quite sometime.  Nothing I have in the way of covers really fits the space.  Since I quilt, I can custom make my runner.  Right? That is what I finally did. Even though it is a recent start to finish fast- project.  It has been lingering in my mind for quite some time.

Here are my ones to get done for this quarter.  Hopefully, I am writing and linking everything I need to to be a part of the "Finish- A-Long" at Quilters Table, et al.  Some mighty nice prizes you could win as some extra incentive. Check it out.  There is more than one host but here is a link to  A Quilter's Table.

Hurry up and join if you are interested- it closes in a couple days.

My couple projects that are my goal for this quarter are:

Finish this purse:

Finish the top of Bonnie's Mystery Quilt from last year:

Table Runners

I made four table runners for Christmas presents this year.  One I had made last year but there was a mistake that I wanted to fix.  I finally fixed it and gave it to its lovely new owners, my brother and his wife.

The three others were for my friends that meet every month.  We have been meeting for over ten years now, pretty faithfully.  They are warm and supportive women who are wonderful to be around.  I always feel uplifted and my soul feels hugged every time we meet.  How special is that?  I am very grateful for them.

One table runner that I have posted here has a story behind it.  Many years ago, one of the girls in the group, "L" had bought this fabric bundle from Joanns with these Southwestern fabrics.  Her and I had been to Phoenix together so it had special meaning.  I went to Joannes and bought the same fabric pack.  For the longest time I have been wanting to make something with them and give it to her.  THis was before quilting came into my life.  I finally found the perfect thing All Quilts- this table runner.  Very simple design but with the right fabrics it could look stunning.  I made her the runner using the South West designs.  I quilted "ole" and "fiesta" on it, along with some designs I had picked up from The Free Motion Quilting Project.
The other two (dang), I did not photograph because I came right down to the wire, finishing them up before bringing them to our get together to give away. The next time I am at one of their houses I am going to photograph them. I liked them so much that I am considering making a quilt out of them.

Without A Walking Foot

Without a walking foot, I am afraid my stitch in the ditch kind of went askew.  See how it kind of pulls.  I do like the stippling in the center.  It was my first time doing it.  A lot of fun and witht he stitch regulator, it made it a bit more simpler.  I am not sure what to do with it.  Any ideas?
