An Apron

One summer, like several years ago, I found this cute sunflower dress for my daughter.  She was about 6 at the time.  SO lets do the math, she's 12 now - 6 years ago.  Anyway, I figured she could wear it and then when she was too big for it, I would change it into an apron.

Its been in my stuff to sew box for that long.

Until now.  I have been going through stuff because I moved my sewing area to the basement and combined the two rooms.  As you can imagine it has been a bit of an adjustment.  I am going through stuff and purging as I go.

I just got rid of a ton of polyester fabric that I will never use.  So happy it will be put to good use by various charities.  Yeah!
I had already cut it at this point.  But I wanted you to see generally what the dress looked like before.
I left the finished edges and cut right above the waist.  Then I made a band with batting in it.  I sewed one side to the front and one side to the back.  This encased those edges in.
It doesnt look even here but it is. you can see that when it is on my daughter above/

I then cut away from the back of the dress to make the straps that I added to the waist band so it could be tied.

Goody Goody Binding Kit Sew Along

Looky what I made!  Oh, you want to make one?  Well, you can. The pattern is online here at Lella Boutique!  It was really fun to make this.  I love pulling out my scraps and leftovers and going to town!
Maybe this binding kit will make me a better machine binder. I do okay on the hand binding but I really need to work on the machine binding. Or maybe I will just sew them by hand the next time.  And there will be a next time.

Wicked

Have you heard of Cherrywood Fabrics?  They are specialized hand dyed cottons.  They look like suede.  From what I understand the hand of the fabric is quite incredible.  You can visit Cherrywood's website here.

At the AQS show in Syracuse they had a challenge display.  It all had to do with Wicked.  Not necessarily the play but anything wicked.  Here are some of my favorites from the show.

AQS Syracuse Quilt Show

I went to AQS Syracuse Show with my friends Sandy and Katie. Had a blast!  Shopping, looking at quilts and hanging out with two really cool people!

These colors were so brilliant and they just popped.

The detail on this one was amazing.

If I had to pick one that grabbed me the most.  I think it would be this one.  The color and the look of it were just so appealing.  I love the red and the gradations of it in the background.  I love the keys too.  Those crows- stealing shiny things!

AMAZING quilting!

I was so taken by the beading on this one!

Love the Mexican feel to this one.
This one totally made me giggle!

The detail and workmanship on this was amazing.

This was a VERY cool chair at one of the vendors.
This one here is a raffle quilt for the upcoming Tompkins - Ithaca Quilt Show.  If you want to buy raffle tickets go there! It is one beautiful quilt.  The gradation in green was absolutely stunning.

This one brought back memories of walking around different places in Mexico.  I always enjoyed being there.

The quilting detail on this was amazing.  The eyes were done so well!
